The impact of Super Storm Sandy will not deter the Point Pleasant Boro Rotary Club in hosting its 6 th Annual Kevin A. Brue Melanoma Awareness Father's Day 5K and One Mile Fun Run on Saturday, June 15, 2013. Whether you participate as a runner or sponsor you will play a part in the Club's fight against Melanoma and help us raise funds for various Rotary charities and local community-based organizations. The course is flat and fast and hasn't changed since our initial run in 2008. A new feature this year is electronic timing by L & M Sports. As usual there will be mile splits, water stops, pre and post race refreshments and awards to the top 3 male and female finishers overall, the 1 st dad and top finishers in several age groups. Leading all runners in last year's 5K was John Jankowski of Point Pleasant Boro with a time of 16:47. The men's course record of 16:10 was set in 2008 by Point Pleasant's Dave Slavinksi. First female finisher last year was Brick's Carey Palmer in a time of 22:18. Jenna Dubrow of Jackson Township set the women's course mark with a time of 18:24 in 2011.

The 1 mile fun run will begin at 8:00 a.m. followed by the 5K at 8:30 a.m. Pre-registration fees before June 10th are $25 for the 5K and  $10 for the fun run. Entry fees after June 10th and on Race Day are $30 and $15. The first 400 registered runners will receive a race T-shirt.

Directions: 

From the North:

Take Rt. 35 South to Bay Head, and turn right on Bridge Avenue, continue for about 1.5 miles over the canal Bridge.  Community Park is 1/2 mile on the left. Some parking is available on the right in the municipal parking lot. Ample on-street parking is available near the park.

From the South:

Take Rt. 35 north to Bridge Ave. and follow directions from above.

From the West:

Take Rt. 70 to Burnt Tavern Road east, cross over Rt. 88, which becomes Bridge Avenue. Proceed east 1 mile to the Community Park.
